Synopsis:
After receiving the TARDIS dematerialisation circuit, the Third
Doctor takes Jo to explore the universe. However only 1 minute after they have
left, a space ship crashes into the TARDIS and forests the doctor and Jo the
dematerialise to earth in the 23rd century. After scanning the area where the
ship crashed into the TARDIS, the doctor realised that what crashed into the
tardis was a cyber ship!
Chapter One : The Return of an Old
Enemy
The Doctor tucked his chair in, hid his sonic screwdriver in his
pocket and slowly walked into his time machine, the TARDIS. He began stroking
the console of the interior of his small wooden box and repeatedly called her
'old girl'. His assistant, Josephine Grant, shortly followed after him. As she
walked in, she could see The Doctor getting excited and asked him if the TARDIS
would finally be able to fly on its own. "Of course it will work! What do you
take me for?" He said, jokily.
"Let's go, then," She said.
"Where to?" The Doctor asked.
"The universe?" Asked Jo.
"The universe!" The Doctor confirmed. Within a nanosecond, the TARDIS
had vanished from UNIT HQ.
The excitement in the TARDIS was intense. "I
think we'll go to Akhaten first," announced The Doctor, "I went there with my
granddaughter, Susan," suddenly , The TARDIS was under attack from an unknown
ship. "Jo! Push that lever, quickly!" shouted The Doctor. The TARDIS made it out
alive. However, The Doctor and Jo were badly injured.
When The Doctor
woke up, he noticed his assistant lying of he floor of the console room, her
body looked lifeless. He tried to wake her, but her eyes would not open. The
Doctor looked outside the TARDIS and realised that his time machine had sent him
to twenty-third century Earth. But, there was one thing he didn't understand.
Why were there aliens from different galaxies wandering about the planet? The
Doctor had a pretty nasty theory about who was behind the aliens and the crash
that almost destroyed the TARDIS. He ran inside the blue box and scanned the
area where there was almost a massive space crash. His theory was right. The
unknown ship was a Cyber Ship. The Doctor did a body count scan. He was
horrified. There was over five million Cybermen on the spacecraft!
The
Doctor quickly pressed some buttons on the console and opened the doors of the
TARDIS and lay Jo on one of the chairs at UNIT HQ and wrote a note to the
Brigadier. It read 'Brigadier, I have found 5000000 Cybermen in Earth's orbit.
Get some men ready, the battle might come down to Earth. Good luck!'. And with
that, The Doctor walked into the TARDIS and left for the Cyber
Ship.
'All Cybermen in battle formation seven!' Demanded the
Cyberleader. He heard a noise that sounded familiar. He turned around to be
greeted by the TARDIS. The Doctor walked over to the metal consoles of the ship.
The Doctor noticed on the consoles was a diagram of Earth. The Doctor was
puzzled until he saw missiles hitting the Earth on the diagram. The Cybermen
mean to blow up Earth!
Chapter Two : The Cyber Invasion
Back on
Earth, Jo had just woken up when the Brigadier walked in. "Ah, Miss Grant, I've
been looking for you. Do you know where The Doctor is?" Asked the
Brigadier
"No.......I....We were going to Akhanen. Or something like
that. He told me to pull a lever. Then I woke up here," explained
Jo.
"Oh, a note." The Brigadier picked up the note that The Doctor had
left for him.
After browsing through the note, the Brigadier radioed
Captain Mike Yates and told him to put all of his men on standby near every
entrance.
"What was that about?" asked Jo.
"The Cybermen are
back," the Brigadier explained.
"The what?" exclaimed Jo.
The
Doctor looked over at the Cyberleader. He looked angry.
"So then," he
said, "you're going to destroy Earth."
The Cyberleader turned to face
his soldiers.
"Take him to the detention chamber!" He ordered.
Two
Cybermen walked quickly to The Doctor and grabbed him by his arms. They walked
even quicker, still holding The Doctor by his arms, and left the main control
room.
On Earth, Mike Yates and Sergeant Benton both took about sixty
men each to the UNIT grounds. Mike and his men covering the left of the complex,
Sergeant Benton and his men covering the centre and the right. Not that the 120
men were expecting five million Cybermen.
Eventually, when the Cybermen
let go of him, The Doctor looked around. He saw metal bars with two prisoners in
each. One cell only had one. He was assigned that prison. He tried to converse
to the other prisoner in his cell. The prisoner replied with,
"Do you
want me to do you in?"
"Do me in?" The Doctor asked.
"I will beat
you up!" He barked at The Doctor.
"So sorry," he said. "I'll be more
careful next time,"
"Yes, you will." The prisoner replied,
cheekily.
Fortunately, The Doctor's sonic screwdriver had not fallen when
the Cybermen took him to his cell. He took it out of his pocket, pushed one of
the caps down and pointed it at the metal lock. The door opened and The Doctor
released himself. The prisoner tried to escape also but, of course, The Doctor
locked the cell behind him. The prisoner cursed The Doctor. But The Doctor was
too busy looking for a teleport to care.
When The Doctor came across a
teleport, he noticed it was in the main control room. How was he going to get to
the teleport without being noticed? There was only one thing for it. He would
have to create a distraction. He changed the setting of the sonic screwdriver
and fired it at a cooling vent. The vent exploded and a group of fifty Cybermen
walked out to investigate. The Doctor ran into the control room and set the
teleport for Earth. He knew that the Cybermen would be able to trace what the
last coordinates were that had been entered into the teleport. But he had a
plan. Within a flash, The Doctor pressed a button and he was gone. He knew the
Cybermen would be close behind.
Chapter Three: They can run?
The
Doctor arrived back at UNIT HQ just as an argument was breaking out. Mike Yates
had come back inside the building and he tried to convince the Brigadier that
nothing was happening and that the soldiers should just come back inside. The
Brigadier managed to convince him, however, that the Cybermen are very
unpredictable. When The Doctor walked into the location of the argument, he
asked why they were fighting.
"The Brigadier is telling us that we have
to stand out there in the freezing cold in case some robots try to kill us,"
Yates replied.
"Mike, I have just seen these 'robots'. They're coming,
ready or not. And as he is a higher rank than you, please do as he says." The
Doctor commanded
"Yes, sorry Doctor, sorry Brigadier," apologised
Mike.
"That's OK," said The Doctor,"Just go outside and defend us!" Said
The Doctor.
"Yes, Doctor," confirmed Mike.
Mike ran out with a
pistol.
"You got my note then?" Asked The Doctor
"Yes," said the
Brigadier, "are they actually coming?"
"Yes," confirmed The Doctor "and
very soon I think!"
On the Cyber Ship, the Cybermen were planning a full
on assault on the UNIT grounds. They discussed tactics. The scientists came up
with a new setting that would make them almost invincible. One by one, they
walked through the teleport.
At UNIT, Sergeant Benton noticed a stream of
energy appear and then the Cybermen came walking through. Within a minute, there
was over seven hundred Cybermen. Suddenly they stopped walking and the
Cyberleader walked to the front.
"You can't beat us," said
Benton.
"Prepare to be eliminated!" Shouted all seven hundred
Cybermen.
Suddenly, all Cybermen pushed a button on their chest plate and
shouted,
"Running mode: Activated!"
All Cybermen started to run at
the UNIT personnel.
"RUN!" Shouted Mike.
The UNIT soldiers quickly
sprinted away from the Cybermen. The Cybermen began to shoot from lasers on
their forehead. They managed to kill over thirty soldiers.
Inside the
building, havoc had reached The Doctors lab. The Cybermen had tracked down The
Doctor and they needed him back. They were coming for him, no matter what the
cost was. His plan, as he always had one, was to travel back to the twenty third
century and discover what the Cybermen were doing.
"Goodbye, Jo!"
announced The Doctor.
"Can't I come?" asked Jo.
"No, not this
time. It's too dangerous," said The Doctor
The Doctor walked into
the TARDIS and set the coordinates. He made an attempt to travel three hundred
years in the future. The TARDIS could sense danger and sparks came off the
console. The Doctor pressed a lever, spinning the TARDIS into the twenty-third
century.
Upon arriving, The Doctor walked out of the TARDIS and walked
over to one of the aliens.
"Hello, I'm The Doctor," he said.
