War to allow the Nestenes to invade and finally earn

Prologue
It started just as a typical day
started at UNIT HQ in Britain but acting Brigadier Wilson was having a worse
start than normal.
When Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart retired he really
didn't expect to be assigned the role acting brigadier while the search for a
new brigadier was going on. Before this he had just been a regular foot soldier
but the head of Geneva HQ seemed very determined for the position to go to him,
probably so it would be easier to control him he thought, but what Wilson really
wanted when he got the position was a permanent brigadier to be appointed sooner
rather than later. But word had come that the latest negotiations fell through
yet again. He trudged along into the laboratory belonging to the ever mysterious
scientific adviser, The Doctor. The room had been empty for almost nine years.
He really wanted to appoint a new scientific adviser but unfortunately for him
Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart's final order was that UNIT must not appoint a new
scientific adviser in the vain hope that The Doctor might return. Wilson was
about to turn and walk away to attend to his other duties when a strange noise
filled the room. He turned and to his astonishment a police box had appeared out
of nowhere and was in the corner of the room and all of a sudden a man in a
cricketers outfit, with what looked to be a piece of celery attached to his
cream coloured jacket, stepped out of the police box.
"Tegan!" he
called.
"Yes, Doctor", replied what sounded to be a woman with an
Australian accent.
"Another wrong landing," sighed the man.
"Oh
great, where are we this time?" said the woman, sounding infuriated.
"I'm
afraid you really don't want to know."
Chapter 1
“So you’re
the Doctor” he stammered.
“Yes, I would have thought that would have been
pretty obvious to you UNIT chaps since I just walked out of a police box that
just appeared from nowhere”, replied The Doctor.
“You’ve gone and done it
again, changed,” said Wilson slowly still trying to take in what he had just
seen.
“Yes, I have actually, do you like it? Oh,” it suddenly came to The
Doctor, “oh no, you’re not the Brigadiers replacement, are you?” said The
Doctor, raising his voice a little.
Just as Wilson was about to confirm
the sad truth he was saved by Tegan, the Australian woman, and a man in a black
suit with a tie walked out.
“Sarah Jane Smith I presume” said Wilson
quickly changing the conversation.
“Actually it’s Tegan Jovanka,” replied
Tegan, “And this is-”
“Turlough, Doctor shouldn’t we be leaving?” said
Turlough butting in but all of a sudden there was a gunshot and a
scream.
“It came from down the corridor, come on!” yelled the Doctor who
was quickest to react and with that everyone raced out of the laboratory. It was
round the corner that the Doctor saw it, a dead soldier but the Doctor also
noticed something else, a small hand held device.
“Doctor,” said
Tegan.
“Interesting I’m sure I’ve seen technology like this before,” said
the Doctor thinking aloud not paying attention to anyone.
“Doctor, where
are we?” replied Tegan, boisterously this time
“Well, isn’t it obvious?
We’re in UNIT headquarters; you know where the Brigadier used to work,
honestly...” said a less than impressed
Doctor.
“And the date?”
muttered Turlough, but still loud enough for the Doctor.
“According to
that calendar over there on the wall, which neither of you have noticed, the
date is the 23rd October 1983, that’s four months after we ran into the
Brigadier, but on the downside we are a year out of your time streams so don’t
get attached to this place,” said the Doctor.
The Doctor carefully
continued to examine the device but the more he looked at it the more it
mystified him. It was times like this the Doctor wished he still had his sonic
screwdriver.
“It makes no sense whatsoever, I mean, UNIT can’t have
technology like this, then I wonder who does,” said the Doctor, speaking aloud
again.
“I don’t suppose we can do anything to help?” said Tegan,
deliberately wanting to be heard.
“No, and would you please stop looking
over my shoulder like that, now how about you just go and wait in the
laboratory? Turlough will go,” said the Doctor, choosing his words
wisely.
“Thank you,” said Turlough quietly, he really didn’t want to be
in a room with only Tegan for company.
Wilson, who had been very quiet
during the event, waited until Turlough was out of sight to speak with the
Doctor.
“I’ll get some men to take away the body, oh, and I’ll also
inform Geneva of the situation,” said a nervous Wilson.
“I wouldn’t
contact Geneva – yet. Let’s wait and see what happens next,” said the Doctor
keeping his cool.
Suddenly, as two men arrived to take away the body,
that familiar voice sounded again.
“Doctor, come quick!” it was
Tegan.
“What now?” wondered a rather annoyed Doctor. He and Wilson walked
into the laboratory but as the Doctor was going to tell Tegan to not interrupt
him again he suddenly saw why Tegan wanted him so urgently. The Doctor stood
there in shock, motionless. A figure stood in the middle of the room, smiling a
crooked smile. Wilson was the only one to react to the figure, he drew his
pistol.
“By order of the United Nations Intelligence Task force you
will state your name, rank and identity, intruder!” he commanded.
It was
only then that the figure spoke and he did so coldly. “I am the Master, and you
will arrest me.”
